ABOUT USThis site is sponsored by The Church of Physical Theology, Ltd., a tiny organization which exists mainly by virtue of its formal incorporation. Our mission is to derive a theory which explains everything worth explaining. This is a church which does not believe in divine revelation but does appreciate interesting theories and good evidence. Among the enormous body of evidence in the bible we've adopted is the history of evolution— that of the universe itself, our planet, and the diverse life forms which populate it. We are delighted with the idea that our planet was roughly 4 billion years in the making, and find the classic Creationist notion that dinosaur fossils (just the bones, not the actual dinosaurs) were actually created by God some 6000 years ago deserving of a reserved shelf in the library of the Flat Earth Society. We do not simply accept the scientific evidence of evolution— we apply it to our theory. And with our help, Darwinist explanations of the fossil evidence will be relegated to the shelf right beneath Creationism. Ultimately, the universe itself will say whether or not it was created. If it does indeed owe its existence to the actions of intelligent minds capable of shaping energy into matter, and matter into stars, those products of creation will tell us more about the nature of the minds which created them than have all the prophets, philosophers, and theologians who have walked this earth. Back to the BibleThe bibles referenced by conventional churches are written in human language, which makes their interpretation difficult. Language is often ambiguous even when first written to its original page, and the meanings of many words shift over time. Meanings are muddled with each translation, sometimes into languages which have no equivalent for some words of the original text.
What does the simple phrase, “Love thy neighbor,” mean in the English language— which has 12 definitions of “love” and 8 of “neighbor?” Neglecting the 3 definitions of “thy,“ that makes 96 different meanings, from sending cash to homeless lowlanders who bought dog food instead of flood insurance, to having sex with the family next door.Sacred books share a common feature of dubious value— all were written by men. Some of these are supposedly inspired by God Himself, but who says so? Other men. The only thing anyone can know for certain about the Jewish Torah, the Holy Bible of Christianity, or the Book of Mormon, etc., is that they were all written by men, and subsequently declared by men to have been inspired by God. Our ideas are also derived from a bible. Ours is superior to all other sacred works because if there is a Creator, it is the only bible which He is certain to have written personally: the physical universe itself. The physical universe is the perfect sacred book, for it offers fewer vagaries of interpretation. It is written in the stuff of matter and energy, and its patterns are freely observable. Atoms, molecules, and even cellular structures have a nice consistency about them. Diamonds are made of carbon atoms whether they are found in a South African pit or a Canadian jewelry store. And carbon atoms have (science presumes) the same structure on planet earth as in galaxies at the far reaches of the universe. Our bible is absolutely free! You need not belong to a sect or enter any temple other than the one in which we all live in order to read it. Step outside and look at the world; many chapters of our bible are there for you to see, hear, taste and feel. Check out your own body; you do not need to read all the books on human anatomy, physiology, neurophysiology, endocrinology, biology, microbiology, etc. to appreciate its complexity— just count the books! This magnificent bible is so precisely written that many of its core teachings, the principles of physics, have been translated into the most clear, succinct, unambiguous and only common language known to man: mathematics. Those poorly versed in this language might think less highly of it, but consider these merits:
OUR PURPOSESOur primary purpose is to explain our theories to those who might find them interesting. New ideas extend the range of human curiosity. For example, the kinds of questions molecular biologists ask today were not imagined before DNA was discovered. Questions about atomic structure would have been meaningless to a nineteenth century physicist. So it goes in every field of human inquiry. Many readers will raise such questions, and some will find the answers. Therefore our second purpose is to encourage and support the efforts of those who wish to extend these ideas. INTERACTIONS WITH USQuestionsWe are willing to receive questions about and corrections to these ideas. Please try your best to make sense of what's written before requesting clarification. We are explaining new ideas, so don't expect this stuff to read like a newspaper article. Treat it more like a textbook or technical paper. Don't be shy about reviewing things, unless you have the kind of mind which understood quantum electrodynamics at first reading. We will not begin with a complete site, so many questions you might have early on will be addressed later. Standards for SubmissionThe input rules are simple:
A Conversation About IdeasThere is a lot of information available in this world, and we may get some of it wrong. Please don't be shy about offering corrections. These ideas are the product of interactions with a wonderful variety of insightful human minds, some in heated discussion, others in the gentler text of books. Many of the ideas are direct contributions of others. We will continue that style. These pages are intended as the initiation of a worldwide conversation to which you are invited to contribute, like a communist, according to your ability and the conversation's needs. These ideas are not intended to offend anyone. Those who believe in some organized religion and are intolerant of alternative ideas should propably not be reading this.
Email may be addressed to: GoldThose who find our site promising and our ideas at least potentially useful are invited to send money. If you think that these ideas are the rantings of a crackpot, why not send contributions for psychiatric help? Sacks of gold coins delivered to the door are always welcome, as are dollars, pounds, pesos, yen, euros, yuan, stock certificates, or most anything except live animals. The bears would eat them. We can promise with good certainty that money sent our way will not be rewarded with a hundred-fold return from God. We only promise that your contributions will be used to extend this conversation and develop these and even better ideas. Thu 06/03/10 13:34 Copyright © 2010 The Church of Physical Theology, Ltd.
